Secret Cabinet Meeting Inside 10 Downing Street on Gaza Situation

A special cabinet meeting is underway inside 10 Downing Street to discuss the situation in Gaza, called by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. BBC correspondent Harry Farley reports that no cabinet ministers were seen walking into the meeting, suggesting that many may be attending virtually via technology.

The absence of some ministers in person may come as a relief to Prime Minister Starmer, as several of them have urged him to change his position and officially recognize Palestine as a state.

These ministers argue that such recognition would be largely symbolic but morally significant, sending a powerful message on the international stage.

However, the government’s official stance remains that recognition of Palestine should only occur at a time when it would have the most impact as part of a broader peace process. The UK wants the decision to be made strategically, in a way that supports sustainable peace and a long-term solution.
