ACC Raids Sylhet Youth Training Center Over Gas Bill Server Manipulation Allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) carried out an enforcement operation at the Youth Training Center in Sylhet on Thursday afternoon following allegations of public fund embezzlement through the manipulation of gas bill payment servers.

An enforcement team from the ACC Integrated District Office in Sylhet conducted the raid. According to officials involved in the drive, initial findings substantiated the allegations of fraud and financial misappropriation at the institution.

ACC sources stated that information on the payment server of Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited was tactfully altered from the Youth Training Center. Through this scheme, gas bills paid by customers were purportedly shown as ‘unpaid’ on the system server, allowing large sums of money to be embezzled.

In addition to the server manipulation, officials discovered serious irregularities involving financial transactions related to the rental of the center’s hall room and venue. Allegations also extended to the handling of funds allocated for gas cylinders used in official training activities.

During the operation, the ACC team summoned essential official documents linked to customer or meter number 240900395. Furthermore, the anti-graft agency dispatched a letter to ACI Limited requesting all record documents concerning the rental of the training center’s venue.

Participating officials confirmed that a detailed report will be compiled and submitted to the commission after thoroughly scrutinizing the requested records and departmental files.

ACC Sylhet Assistant Director Subel Ahmad reiterated that strict legal action will be pursued against everyone implicated in the fraud once the verification process is complete.
