Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Declares Time for Decisions as Governor’s Rule Imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that the situation has crossed critical limits and the time to make decisive moves has arrived, speaking during an important federal cabinet meeting focused on the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing the cabinet, the Prime Minister stated that a group intended to march on Islamabad and bring Pakistan to the brink of destruction once again. He stressed that such actions would not be tolerated and asserted that the law would take its own course.

Referring to the political leadership in the province, Shehbaz Sharif noted that the country had bestowed everything upon them, including governance and the chief minister’s office. However, he expressed regret that in return, efforts were being made to harm the state.

Highlighting the security crisis, the Prime Minister pointed out that attacks are taking place daily in regions such as Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and other areas. He criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for remaining silent instead of effectively responding to terrorists, noting that the peace situation continues to deteriorate.

He stated that plans had been made to march on Islamabad and revive painful memories. Under these circumstances, he remarked that water has passed over the head, adding that history would remember the leadership by the decisions made at this juncture.

Following detailed deliberations on the developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the federal cabinet approved the enforcement of emergency and Governor’s rule in the province.

Subsequent to the cabinet’s approval, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif forwarded the formal advice to the President. President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary, leading to the immediate implementation of emergency and Governor’s rule across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
