Liton Hossain Jihad: The East African nation of Sudan is now enduring one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in modern history. From the capital Khartoum to Darfur, fire, destruction, and death have become part of daily life.
A brutal war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has claimed thousands of lives, displaced hundreds of thousands of families, and left countless children crying in hunger and fear.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) originated from the Janjaweed militia, which gained infamy during the Darfur conflict of 2003. Then-President Omar al-Bashir used the Janjaweed to crush rebellions, and they were accused of atrocities including mass killings, rape, and ethnic cleansing.
In 2013, the group was officially restructured and renamed the Rapid Support Forces. It is led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti.
Although the RSF was formally integrated into Sudanâs national security framework, in reality it evolved into an independent, heavily armed force operating outside traditional military command. The growing rivalry between the RSF and the national army ultimately led to a full-scale civil war in 2023.
The conflict began in April 2023, when both the army and the RSF sought to seize control of the state.
After a military coup, Sudan had been moving toward civilian rule, but distrust between the two forces over the power-sharing process ignited deadly clashes.
Fighting soon engulfed Khartoum, Omdurman, Darfur, Kordofan, and the Blue Nile regions, plunging the nation into chaos.
According to United Nations data, over the past two years more than 12,000 people have been killed, over 10 million displaced, and millions of children are suffering from severe malnutrition.
In Darfur, fears of renewed ethnic cleansing are growing.
The UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has reported that RSF troops are responsible for summary executions, massacres, and sexual violence.
Human rights organizations confirm that women and children are the main victims, with deaths increasing sharply due to a lack of food, water, and medical care.
In January 2025, the United States officially declared that the RSF had committed genocide in Darfur, imposing sanctions on RSF leader Hemedti.
Despite repeated calls for peace talks from the United Nations, the African Union, and the Arab League, no significant progress has been achieved on the ground.
Reports from The Guardian and The Washington Post reveal that RSF forces have attacked UN food convoys, killed health workers, and set refugee camps ablaze.
This war is not merely about power or politicsâit is a war against humanity itself.
A heartbreaking image of a three-year-old Sudanese child dragging his motherâs dead body has shaken the worldâs conscience.
Sudan, Gaza, and Arakanâall cry out with the same question:
âIs civilization truly alive, or merely wearing a mask while worshipping the gods of violence?â
The war in Sudan proves one undeniable truthâ
when power and greed unite, humanity becomes the easiest prey.
The image of a child pulling his motherâs corpse stands as a symbol of defiance against modern civilization, as if shouting:
âYou are not humansâyou are beasts disguised in the garments of war!â

Liton Hossain Jihad: Man is born to breathe, yet he lives to count.
His first cry is wordless, but every word thereafter hides a demand.
Life slowly turns into a long ledgerâeach smile, each affection, even each breath weighed against the currency of the world.
We live in an age where the price of the soul is falling, yet the exchange rate of money keeps rising.
Moneyâonce a servant of necessityâhas become the invisible monarch of existence.
It has neither blood nor conscience, yet it commands both.
We pray to it, fear it, dream of it, and kill for it.
It promises freedom, yet it steals the essence of freedom itself.
We sell our hours in the name of stability, our youth in the name of ambition, our morality in the name of success.
We no longer use money; money uses us.
And still, there is nothing more unreal than money.
Its power is born not of nature, but of belief.
If humankind, for a single moment, agreed that this paper holds no value, civilization would collapse overnight.
Thus, money is not a realityâit is a collective dream, a shared hallucination.
We are all asleep in the same dream, where illusion has become truth and truth is dismissed as fantasy.
There was a time when man could hear his own soul.
He knew the difference between need and greed, between life and its decoration.
Now, the soul lies silent beneath the hum of bank servers and the glow of digital balances.
Happiness is no longer a feelingâit is a calculation.
A man is not measured by his kindness, but by his income;
not by his wisdom, but by the number of digits that follow his name.
He has become a living equationâan economy of flesh.
But what does man truly seek?
Not money, but the promise that money whispersâsecurity, dignity, love, continuity.
Yet the more he chases, the farther these promises drift.
He builds a house of wealth, only to find it hollow.
He collects possessions, but loses the power to feel possession of himself.
In the mirror, he sees not a human, but a currency in motion.
This tragedy of existence is delicate and silentâ
It seeps through the laughter of success, through the applause of progress,
whispering, âYou have everything, except yourself.â
We created money to serve life, but life has become its servant.
We priced love, insured death, and imprisoned the soul within the glass vault of transaction.
And yet, deep within this machinery of desire, a faint light remains.
It glows where money has no languageâ
in the eyes of a child sharing a piece of bread,
in the hands of a mother who gives without counting,
in the smile of a beggar who still knows joy.
That light is the last remnant of what makes us human.
It reminds us that money may build a world, but it cannot create meaning.
The true philosophy of life is simple yet infinite:
Value does not dwell in what we own, but in what we feel.
Money can fill our hands, but only compassion can fill our hearts.
When mankind learns to see beyond the glitter of possession,
when it remembers that being is more sacred than having,
then perhaps the world will become truly civilized.
On that day, money will not disappearâbut it will change its purpose.
It will no longer enslave, but serve;
no longer divide, but connect.
It will no longer define humanityâ
it will follow it.
And in that awakening, beyond illusion and commerce,
we shall finally glimpse the most profound truth of allâ
the eternal wealth of being human

Afghanistanâs Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has announced that the border clashes with Pakistan have been temporarily suspended.
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday (October 12), Muttaqi said, âWe achieved our military objectives last night. Our friends, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, have expressed that this conflict should come to an end. Therefore, we have paused the fighting from our side for the time being,â according to Indiaâs ANI news agency.
He added, âThe people of Pakistan, in the majority, are peace-loving and want good relations with Afghanistan. We have no issues with Pakistani civilians. However, when someone tries to interfere in our internal matters, all civilians, government heads, ulemas, and religious leaders unite to defend the countryâs interests.â
Muttaqi also warned, âIf Pakistan does not want peace and good relations, then Afghanistan has other options as well.â
Notably, recent border skirmishes between Afghanistan and Pakistan have heightened tensions between the two neighboring countries.

online desnk: The two-year-long IsraelâHamas war may be approaching its end, as both Tel Aviv and the pro-Palestinian faction Hamas have agreed to the preliminary conditions of a peace proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump. This breakthrough has opened the door to the release of hostages. Yet a larger question remainsâhas Israel truly managed to crush Hamas, or are the seeds of a new conflict already taking root within this war itself?
According to some defense analysts, Israel may have âbroken Hamasâs backbone,â but its complete annihilation remains far from reality. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claim to have eliminated between 17,000 and 23,000 of Hamasâs estimated 25,000â30,000 fighters over the past two years, along with several top leaders. Still, Israelâs forces have failed to rescue the hostages from Hamasâs strongholdsâcasting doubt on their claim of victory.
The turning point came on October 7, 2023, when Iran-backed Hamas launched a surprise offensive called Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, crossing the Gaza border into Israel. The onslaught overwhelmed Israelâs air defense systems with a barrage of rockets. Within hours, Israelâs air and ground forces retaliated with full-scale operations. Over 1,200 innocent civilians were killed in the attack, and more than 250 people were taken hostage into Gaza. From that day, Israel began its long and complex campaignâOperation Sword of Ironâstarting with airstrikes followed by a ground invasion aimed at dismantling Hamasâs core command hubs.
By January 2024, IDF tank divisions had entered Gaza City and Jabalia, beginning an extensive hunt for Hamas leadership. However, Hamasâs true power lies in its elaborate tunnel networkâspanning an estimated 560â720 kilometers, housing over 5,700 hideouts, where weapons, hostages, and fighters are concealed. Israel has failed to destroy this underground web entirely, allowing Hamas the opportunity to regroup and rebuild.
Meanwhile, Israeli bombardments have caused devastating civilian casualties. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, over 67,000 people have been killed in Gazaâhalf of them women and children. Major hospitals like Al-Shifa and Nasser have been reduced to rubble, and the estimated weight of the debris is around 50 million tons.
Hamas, however, has not been idle. Data from the U.S.-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED) reveal that the group has redeployed 10,000â12,000 guerrilla fighters across southern Gaza. Since early 2025, at least 15,000 new recruitsâmostly young menâhave joined Hamas, signaling a strong resurgence.
Experts note that Hamas has gained ground not just militarily but also in the propaganda war. It has successfully framed Israel as a âperpetrator of genocideâ on the global stage, shifting public opinion in its favor. Recently, countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Canada have recognized Palestineâleaving Tel Aviv increasingly isolated in international politics.
Shayel Ben, an international relations expert from Los Angeles, observed, âHamas is not merely an organizationâit is a nationalist idea. It draws its strength from the historical solidarity of the Arab world. Even if Israel defeats it militarily, Hamas could return in a new form.â
Israeli Chief of Staff Yaal Zamir has also acknowledged this grim reality. Speaking to Israelâs Channel 12, he said, âEven if we completely occupy Gaza, eliminating Hamas will not be easy. Such an outcome could instead deepen Israelâs diplomatic isolation.â
In this context, Trumpâs peace proposal has become a double-edged sword for Israelâboth a relief and a burden. While the potential release of hostages may ease domestic pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahuâs government, Hamas has warned that if hostilities resume, Israel will pay a heavy price.
Meanwhile, Israelâs National Security Minister Ben Gvir prayed at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and proclaimed victory, provoking outrage across the Arab world. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and several other nations have sharply condemned his actions.
Now, the world is watching closelyâhow long will Trumpâs peace deal last? And more importantly, who will emerge as the true victor of the Gaza warâIsrael or Hamas?
