Alleged Theft of Equipment Worth Tk 600,000 from Brahmanbaria Model Mosque

An alleged theft has taken place at the Brahmanbaria District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre, where electrical and lightning protection equipment worth approximately Tk 600,000 was reportedly stolen from the roof of the fourth floor. In connection with the incident, Md. Mohiuddin, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation’s Brahmanbaria District Office, filed a written complaint with the Sadar Model Police Station.
According to the written complaint, the theft occurred at some point between July 15 and August 4 from the fourth-floor rooftop of the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre, located within the municipal area. The complaint states that unidentified thieves entered the rooftop and took away several important electrical and lightning protection components.
The stolen items reportedly include 16 office-wiring cables, valued at approximately Tk 200,000; a lightning arrester, valued at around Tk 300,000; copper earthing electrodes, worth approximately Tk 50,000; and lightning rods, terminals and other related equipment, estimated to be worth another Tk 50,000.
According to the complaint, the total estimated value of the stolen equipment is approximately Tk 600,000.
Meanwhile, repeated incidents of theft at the District Model Mosque have raised questions about the adequacy of its security arrangements. Concerned parties have called for those responsible to be identified and brought under legal action, while also demanding stronger security measures at the mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre.
