Desk Reporter:  Iran has claimed that it shot down a U.S. F-15 fighter jet. The information was reported by Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim News Agency, citing a related source.

According to the source, Iran’s air defense forces brought down the American F-15 aircraft.

Earlier, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the military operations branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, announced on Monday that Iran’s indigenous air defense system had shot down three U.S. warplanes.

Since then, various images have circulated showing U.S. military aircraft being downed. In the images, pilots were seen descending to the ground using parachutes.

However, the United States and Kuwait later stated that the aircraft were brought down in Kuwait due to “friendly fire,” meaning they were mistakenly hit by missiles fired by their own side. The pilots were reportedly able to land safely.
