Israel Returns Bodies Showing Signs of Brutal Torture; Hamas Calls for International Investigation

Jerusalem, October 17 – Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement in Gaza, has called for an international investigation after receiving the bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces showing signs of severe torture. The group urged the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, and international human rights organizations to launch an immediate probe into the incident.
In a statement issued on Thursday (October 16), Hamas said that the bodies handed over to Gaza bore clear evidence of torture, mutilation, and execution-style gunshot wounds. The organization accused Israeli soldiers of committing heinous crimes, describing the acts as proof of Israel’s moral and humanitarian collapse.
“The horrifying marks of torture and point-blank gunshots found on the bodies of the martyrs returned by Israeli forces clearly expose their criminal nature,” the statement read.
Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, Director General of Gaza’s Health Ministry, reported that many of the returned bodies showed signs of burning, beating, handcuffing, and blindfolding, indicating the victims had been tortured before being killed.
As part of a recent ceasefire agreement, Israel handed over the bodies of 120 Palestinians, most of whom remain unidentified. Medical teams are currently working manually to determine their identities.
To assist the families, the Health Ministry has launched an online portal that carefully publishes selected photos of the bodies while maintaining their dignity.
