A mobile court in Brahmanbaria has fined four private hospitals and diagnostic centers a total of Tk 115,000 for various irregularities and licensing issues. During the drive, a physiotherapist impersonating a doctor was arrested and sentenced to three days in jail.

The operation was carried out on Sunday (June 29) afternoon under the leadership of Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sifat Mohammad Istiyak, in collaboration with the district health department.

During the raid, the mobile court sealed off PSP Physiotherapy and Laser Therapy Center in Maulvipara and arrested therapist Swapan Chandra Saha for impersonating a doctor and treating patients. The center was fined Tk 30,000, and Swapan Chandra Saha was sentenced to three days in jail for obstructing the mobile court’s operations.

Meanwhile, Popular Diagnostic Center was fined Tk 50,000 due to lack of proper documentation and an unhygienic environment. The authorities also ordered the facility to be relocated from its current underground location within two months.

Al Khalil Hospital and Diagnostic Center, located on Jail Road, was fined Tk 15,000 for operating without approval from the Department of Environment. Similarly, Global Hospital and Diagnostic Center was fined Tk 20,000 for lacking necessary authorization documents.

Speaking to journalists, UNO Sifat Mohammad Istiyak said, “There are many illegal clinics and fake doctors in Brahmanbaria. Today’s operation was part of our efforts to curb such malpractice. One fake doctor has been jailed and fined, while four institutions have been penalized.”

Present during the operation were Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Medical Officers Dr. Md. Raihan Talukder and Dr. Md. Ismail Bhuiyan Rahat, Sanitary Inspector and acting District Supervisor Md. Shafiur Rahman, Sadar Health Inspector Md. Monirul Islam, and representatives from the Brahmanbaria Gonodhikar Parishad, including Engineer Fakhruddin, Md. Shibir Ahmed Bhuiyan, and Shah Alam.

According to the district administration and health department, such drives will continue regularly, and strict action will be taken against unauthorized and irregular healthcare institutions.

Parents play the most critical role in this process. The foundation of a strong family, a moral society, and a successful nation lies in raising children with the right values. 1. Teach Values from Early Childhood

Children must be taught essential human values such as truthfulness, compassion, politeness, responsibility, and kindness from a young age. Since children learn more by observing than by listening, parents must lead by example. If you show respect to others, speak the truth, and follow rules, your child is more likely to adopt those same habits.

2. Give Time and Attention

Providing food and clothing is not enough. Children need your time, attention, and emotional presence. Listen to them attentively, understand their thoughts, and engage in meaningful conversations. This helps develop their confidence and ability to differentiate right from wrong.

3. Balance Between Discipline and Affection

Raising a child well requires a healthy balance of discipline and love. Don't just scold or punish—explain why something is wrong. On the other hand, appreciate and encourage good behavior. This helps the child understand what is acceptable and what is not.

4. Create an Environment for Learning

Education is not limited to textbooks. Help your child explore the world, nature, and real-life situations. Encourage reading habits, curiosity, and fact-based discussions. This stimulates critical thinking and a lifelong love for learning.

5. Limit Technology Wisely

In today’s world, children grow up surrounded by technology. While it can be a powerful tool, overuse can be harmful. Set time limits for screen use, and offer creative, real-world alternatives like games, crafts, or outdoor activities.

6. Involve Them in Social and Moral Activities

Introduce your child to social realities and responsibilities. Teach them to respect elders, help the needy, and care for the environment. Participating in religious and community activities can help build compassion and a sense of duty.

7. Love Them Even When They Make Mistakes

Children are human, and they will make mistakes. Instead of harsh punishment, support them and help them learn from those errors. This builds resilience and teaches them to take responsibility for their actions.

In conclusion, raising a child into a good human being is a continuous journey filled with patience, understanding, and commitment. With love, guidance, and consistent values, any parent can nurture their child into a kind, responsible, and honest individual. Your child is your reflection—be the person you want them to become.

সোমবার সকাল থেকেই ইরান ও ইসরায়েল মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে উত্তেজনার নতুন অধ্যায়ে প্রবেশ করেছে। দিনভর দুই পক্ষই পাল্টাপাল্টি বিমান হামলা চালিয়েছে, যা এই সংঘাতকে আরও জটিল ও আশঙ্কাজনক করে তুলেছে।

ইসরায়েলের পরিস্থিতি

ইরান ইসরায়েলের দক্ষিণাঞ্চলে ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র হামলা চালিয়েছে। এর ফলে ওই অঞ্চলের প্রায় আট হাজার মানুষ বিদ্যুৎ বিচ্ছিন্ন অবস্থায় পড়ে। ইসরায়েলের একটি প্রধান জ্বালানি কোম্পানি জানিয়েছে, তাদের একটি স্থাপনার কাছে ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে, যদিও বিস্তারিত উল্লেখ করা হয়নি।
ইসরায়েলি কর্তৃপক্ষ এখনো পর্যন্ত কোনো হতাহতের তথ্য দেয়নি।

ইরানের পরিস্থিতি

ইসরায়েল তাদের প্রতিক্রিয়ায় ইরানের ওপর হামলার মাত্রা উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে বাড়িয়েছে। ইসরায়েলের প্রতিরক্ষা মন্ত্রী ইসরায়েল কাৎজ একে "নজিরবিহীন শক্তি প্রয়োগ" বলে উল্লেখ করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, ইসরায়েলি হামলায় তেহরানে যেসব লক্ষ্যবস্তু বেছে নেওয়া হয়েছে, সেগুলো “ইরানি শাসনব্যবস্থার প্রতীক”।

এই উত্তেজনা আরও বেড়ে যায় যখন সপ্তাহান্তে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ইরানের একটি পারমাণবিক কেন্দ্রে হামলা চালায় এবং সাবেক মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট ডোনাল্ড ট্রাম্প "ইরানি শাসনামলের পরিবর্তনের" আহ্বান জানান। এর প্রতিক্রিয়ায় ইরানি সামরিক নেতারা হুঁশিয়ারি দিয়ে বলেন, তারা “চূড়ান্ত প্রতিক্রিয়া” দিতে প্রস্তুত।

বিশ্লেষকরা আশঙ্কা প্রকাশ করছেন, এই উত্তেজনা হরমুজ প্রণালীতে ছড়িয়ে পড়তে পারে—যা বিশ্ব জ্বালানি রপ্তানির জন্য এক অতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জলপথ। ইরান ইতোমধ্যেই প্রণালীটি বন্ধ করার ইঙ্গিত দিয়েছে, যা আন্তর্জাতিক জ্বালানি বাজারে বড় ধরনের অস্থিরতা সৃষ্টি করতে পারে।

The Switzerland-based international organization United People Global (UPG) has ushered in a new era of sustainable development by empowering youth worldwide. In 2025, its contributions to education, health, environment, and social equity have become unparalleled. Through the UPG Sustainability Leadership Program 2025, young people’s leadership skills are being honed, and community-based initiatives are gaining momentum, turning into beacons of sustainable change in every corner of the globe.

Yemi Babington-Ashaye, founder and president of UPG, is shaping the organization as a pioneer of the youth-led social revolution. Operating in more than 140 countries, UPG implements community-centered projects through international collaboration. In the competitive session of 2025, over 13,000 youth applicants participated, who are emerging on the global stage through video projects, university certification, and community activities.

One of the remarkable features of UPG is its team of dedicated mentors who provide continuous support and guidance. These mentors are highly collaborative and nurturing, helping young leaders to unlock their full potential. Their encouragement and expertise create an inspiring environment for personal and community growth.

Participants of the program also have unique opportunities such as visiting Hurricane Island, a renowned leadership and environmental education center. This experience allows youth to engage closely with nature and practice leadership skills in real-world challenging settings.

Additionally, UPG fosters collaboration among youth from diverse countries, creating a vibrant network of changemakers. This international cooperation enriches participants’ perspectives and equips them with the skills to work across cultures for sustainable development.

Ruhil Madini Mim, a student of the Political Studies Department at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Bangladesh, was selected for this program and is advancing on the path of local and global change. Under the guidance of senior Habibur Rahman Masrur, she has made her mark through UPG’s leadership initiatives. She says, “Studying politics and sociology attracted me to UPG’s mission. I want to work for my community and bring sustainable change in their lives.” So far, she has conducted mini training sessions on education, health, and environment in various schools of the Sylhet division, inspiring hundreds of students and villagers. She adds, “Through these activities, I am raising awareness about sustainable leadership among ordinary people and working to improve their quality of life. To date, I have successfully completed four mini-training sessions with over 100 participants.”

By participating in this program, it is possible to implement sustainable initiatives anywhere in the world. For the youth of Bangladesh, UPG has become an exceptional opportunity. Leaders like her demonstrate that with the right platform, training, and strong determination, changing the world is possible. UPG’s initiatives and the active participation of young people are creating an illuminated pathway toward a sustainable future—a hopeful story not just for Bangladesh, but for the entire world.

লিটন হোসাইন জিহাদ, ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া:  ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার বিজয়নগর উপজেলার চানপুর গ্রামে সরকারি পুকুর নিয়ে দুই পক্ষের সংঘর্ষে অন্তত ৬ জন আহত হয়েছেন  রোববার (২২ জুন) সকালে এ ঘটনায় ছেলের কোপে বাবার হাত বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যাওয়ার মতো হৃদয়বিদারক ঘটনা ঘটে।

স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা গেছে, পাহাড়পুর ইউনিয়নের চানপুর গ্রামের ইছামদ্দিন নামের এক ব্যক্তি সরকারি লিজে নেওয়া একটি পুকুরে চুন ছিটাচ্ছিলেন। এ সময় প্রতিপক্ষ হুমায়ুন কবীর, ইদ্রিস মোল্লা এবং ইদ্রিসের ছেলে মেহেদী পুকুরপাড়ে গিয়ে ইছামদ্দিনকে ডেকে এনে মাথায় ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে আঘাত করেন।

পরে বাবাকে রক্ষা করতে ইছামদ্দিনের ছেলে আমিনুল ইসলাম দৌড়ে গেলে তাকেও ছুরি দিয়ে এলোপাতাড়ি কোপানো হয়। এক পর্যায়ে হামলাকারীরা আমিনুলের হাত কাটার চেষ্টা করলে সে দ্রুত হাত সরিয়ে নেয়। সেই কোপ গিয়ে লাগে ইদ্রিস মোল্লার হাতে, যার ফলে তার হাত বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে যায়।

পরে স্থানীয়দের সহায়তায় আহত ইদ্রিসকে ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। অপরদিকে, ইছামদ্দিন ও আমিনুল ইসলামকে হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পথে হুমায়ুন কবীরের লোকজন বাধা দিলে বিজয়নগর থানা পুলিশ গিয়ে তাদের উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে পাঠায়। পরে উন্নত চিকিৎসার জন্য দু’জনকেই ঢাকা পাঠানো হয়।

স্থানীয়দের দাবি, গত ১৩ বছর ধরে ইছামদ্দিন সরকারি লিজে পুকুরটি ব্যবহার করে মাছ ও কৃষি চাষ করে আসছেন। অন্যদিকে হুমায়ুন কবীররা বিএস দলিল দেখিয়ে দাবি করছেন, এটি তাদের পারিবারিক সম্পত্তি।​ এই সংক্রান্ত বিরোধে বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ে হুমায়ুন কবীরসহ ১৪ জনের বিরুদ্ধে মামলা করেছে এবং বিএস বাতিল করেছে বলেও জানান স্থানীয়রা।

বিজয়নগর থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) বলেন, “পরিস্থিতি বর্তমানে নিয়ন্ত্রণে রয়েছে। এলাকায় পুলিশ মোতায়েন রয়েছে। এখনো কোনো পক্ষ লিখিত অভিযোগ দেয়নি।”

আর্ন্তজাতিক ডেস্ক: সখারাম এবং তাঁর ২৬ বছরের স্ত্রী অভিতা দুই সন্তান নিয়ে থানে জেলার বাদলাপুরে একটি ইটভাটায় কাজ করতেন। তৃতীয় সন্তানের অভিভাবক হতে চলেছিলেন তাঁরা। সন্তানের জন্মের সময় ঘনিয়ে এলে, নিরাপদ প্রসবের আশায় তারা তিন সপ্তাহ আগে গ্রামের বাড়িতে ফিরে আসেন। কিন্তু ১১ জুন আচমকাই অভিতার প্রসব বেদনা শুরু হয়। সেখান থেকে শুরু হয় তাঁদের দুর্ভোগ। সখারাম বলেন, 'সেদিন সকাল থেকে অ্যাম্বুলেন্স ডেকেছি, কিন্তু কেউ আসেনি।' তিনি জানান, গ্রামের আশা (ASHA) কর্মীও প্রথমে পাওয়া যায়নি। পরে তিনি জরুরি নম্বর ১০৮-এ ফোন করেছিলেন, কিন্তু প্রথমে কোনও উত্তর পাননি বলে জানা যায়। এরপর তিনি এক প্রাইভেট গাড়ির ব্যবস্থা করে স্ত্রীকে খোদালা প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্রে নিয়ে যান। সেখানে পৌঁছানোর পর তাঁদের এক ঘণ্টার বেশি অপেক্ষা করানো হয়।

সখারাম আরও জানান, পরে তাঁদের মোখাদা গ্রামীণ হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। স্ত্রী অতিভা বলেন, 'ওরা আমাকে একা একটা ঘরে আলাদা করে রাখে। আমার স্বামী এর প্রতিবাদ করলে, তারা পুলিস ডাকে—পুলিস এসে ওকে মারধর করে।' মোখাদার চিকিত্‍সকেরা বাচ্চার হৃদস্পন্দন ধরতে না পারায় নাসিক সিভিল হাসপাতালে যাওয়ার পরামর্শ দেয়। কিন্তু তখন অ্যাম্বুলেন্স না থাকায়, ২৫ কিমি দূরের আসে গ্রাম থেকে একটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্স ডেকে আনা হয়।

অভিতা নাসিকের হাসপাতালে পৌঁছান সন্ধ্যের সময়। ১২ জুন রাত ১.৩০-এ তিনি মৃত কন্যা সন্তানের জন্ম দেন। দুঃখের পাহাড় এখানেই শেষ নয়। পরেরদিন সকালে হাসপাতাল কর্তৃপক্ষ শিশুর মৃতদেহ সখারামের হাতে তুলে দেয়। কিন্তু মৃতদেহ নিয়ে নিয়ে বাড়ি ফেরার জন্য কোনও অ্যাম্বুলেন্সের ব্যবস্থা করে দেয়নি।

সখারাম বলেন, 'আমি এস.টি. স্ট্যান্ডে গিয়ে ২০ টাকায় একটা ক্যারি ব্যাগ কিনি, কাপড়ে আমার মেয়েকে জড়িয়ে রাখি, তারপর এমএসআরটিসি বাসে প্রায় ৯০ কিমি পেরিয়ে বাড়ি নিয়ে আসি।' সেদিনই মৃত মেয়েকে পুঁতে শেষকৃত্য পূরণ করা হয়।

১৩ জুন সখারাম আবার নাসিকে গিয়ে স্ত্রীকে বাড়ি নিয়ে আসেন। স্ত্রীর শারিরীকভাবে দুর্বল থাকায় তাকে অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করে নিয়ে আসার কথা ভাবেন। কিন্তু সেখানে হাসপাতাল কর্তৃপক্ষ অ্যাম্বুলেন্স দিতে অস্বীকার করে। বাধ্য হয়ে অভিতাকে নিয়ে বাসেই বাড়ি ফিরতে হয় সখারামকে।

অন্যদিকে, মোখাদা গ্রামীণ হাসপাতালের ডাক্তার ভাউসাহেব চাতার দাবি করেন, বাচ্চাটি গর্ভেই মারা যান। হাসপাতালের অ্যাম্বুলেন্স খারাপ থাকায় দেওয়া যায়নি। গ্রাম থেকে একটি অ্যাম্বুলেন্স পাঠানো হয়। চিকিত্‍সক আরও দাবি করেন যে, হাসপাতাল ফেরার সময় অ্যাম্বুলেন্স দেওয়ার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়েছিল, কিন্তু সখারাম নাকি তা নিতে অস্বীকার করে একটি মুচলেকা দেন—যা সখারাম অস্বীকার করেছেন। হাসপাতালের পক্ষ থেকে আদিবাসী দম্পতিকে সবরকম সহযোগিতা করা হয়েছিল বলেও দাবি করেন তিনি।

পশ্চিমা সংবাদ সংস্থার প্রতিবেদন মোতাবেক, চীন থেকে ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র প্রপেল্যান্টের উপকরণ আমদানি সংক্রান্ত একটি প্রকল্পের অংশ হিসেবে দ্বিতীয় ইরানি জাহাজ বিশাল পণ্য নিয়ে সে দেশের অভিমুখে অগ্রসর হচ্ছে, ভিওএ-র বিশ্লেষণে এমনটা জানা গেছে। জাহাজ ট্র্যাক করে এমন একাধিক ওয়েবসাইট দেখাচ্ছে, ইরানের পতাকা সম্বলিত পণ্যবাহী জাহাজ ‘জয়রন’ সোমবার চীন থেকে রওনা হয়েছে; একাধিক সংবাদ প্রতিবেদনের একটিতে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে, নির্ধারিত সময়ের এক মাস পরে এই জাহাজ ছাড়লো।

জানুয়ারি ও ফেব্রুয়ারিতে দ্য ফিনান্সিয়াল টাইমস, দ্য ওয়াল স্ট্রিট জার্নাল ও সিএনএনের নিবন্ধে বলা হয়েছিল, ইরানের দুটি পণ্যবাহী জাহাজের একটি হল জয়রন; চীন থেকে ১ হাজার মেট্রিক টন সোডিয়াম পারক্লোরেট আমদানি করতে এই জাহাজগুলি ব্যবহার করছে তেহরান। তিনটি সংবাদ সংস্থা অজ্ঞাতনামা একাধিক পশ্চিমা গোয়েন্দা সূত্রকে উদ্ধৃতি করে বলেছে, ২৬০টি মাঝারি পাল্লার ইরানি ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র তৈরি করতে এই কথিত চালান হওয়া পণ্যকে পর্যাপ্ত অ্যামোনিয়াম পারক্লোরেটে রূপান্তরিত করা হতে পারে যা প্রপেল্যান্টের ঘন বা জমাটবদ্ধ জ্বালানির একটি প্রধান উপাদান।

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ট্রেজারি দফতর গলবন ও জয়রন উভয় জাহাজের উপরই নিষেধাজ্ঞা চাপিয়েছে কেননা এই জাহাজগুলি ইসলামি প্রজাতান্ত্রিক ইরানের শিপিং লাইন (রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত) দ্বারা পরিচালিত এবং যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পররাষ্ট্র দফতরের বক্তব্য অনুযায়ী, এই শিপিং লাইন “ইরানের অস্ত্র বৃদ্ধির পছন্দসই পথ ও সরঞ্জাম সংগ্রহের মাধ্যম,” তাই ইরানের এই রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত সংস্থার উপরই নিষেধাজ্ঞা চাপানো রয়েছে।

ভিওএ যোগাযোগ করলেও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পররাষ্ট্র দফতর চীন থেকে জয়রনের রওনা নিয়ে কোনও মন্তব্য করেনি। নিউইয়র্কে ইরানের জাতিসংঘ মিশনকে মঙ্গলবার এই বিষয়ে মন্তব্য করার জন্য ভিওএ-র পক্ষ থেকে ই-মেইল করা হয়, তবে তারাও কোনও জবাব দেয়নি।

গত মাসে পররাষ্ট্র দফতর ভিওএ-কে বলেছে, চীন থেকে সোডিয়াম পারক্লোরেট আমদানি করতে গলবন ও জয়রনের কথিত ব্যবহার বিষয়ে দ্য ফিনান্সিয়াল টাইমস ও ওয়াল স্ট্রিট জার্নালের জানুয়ারির একাধিক সংবাদ প্রতিবেদন সম্পর্কে তারা ওয়াকিবহাল।

একজন মুখপাত্র বলেছেন, গোয়েন্দা বিষয় নিয়ে পররাষ্ট্র দফতর মন্তব্য করে না, তবে “ইরানের ক্ষেপণাস্ত্র বা অন্যান্য অস্ত্র কর্মসূচির জন্য লাভজনক উপাদান, সরঞ্জাম ও প্রযুক্তির বৃদ্ধি ঠেকাতে তারা সজাগ রয়েছে এবং নিষেধাজ্ঞা চাপানোর মাধ্যমে ইরানকে জবাবদিহি করতে বাধ্য করে চলেছে।”

The Maitri Stambha (Monument of Friendship), built in Ashuganj of Brahmanbaria to honor the memory of members of the Indian Allied Forces who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War of Bangladesh, was inaugurated on Thursday (August 13). District Commissioner Md. Abu Saeed inaugurated the monument at noon. It was subsequently opened to visitors.

The Maitri Stambha has been constructed in the Kamoura area of Ashuganj, beside the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. The initiative to implement the project was undertaken to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the Indian Allied Forces who fought for the independence of Bangladesh during the Liberation War of 1971.

According to relevant sources, approximately Tk 72 crore was spent on the construction of the Maitri Stambha. Following the inauguration, District Commissioner Md. Abu Saeed toured various sections of the monument. It was later officially opened to the general public.

An entrance fee has been set for visitors interested in viewing the Maitri Stambha. Ticket prices have been fixed at Tk 20 and Tk 30 for different categories of visitors.

Additional District Commissioner Ranjan Chandra Dey, Ashuganj Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kazi Rabbius Sarwar, and other officials from the administration were present at the inauguration ceremony along with the District Commissioner.

Contribution of the Allied Forces to the Liberation War

During the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971, members of the Indian Allied Forces fought alongside the Mukti Bahini against the Pakistani forces. They fought shoulder to shoulder with Bangladeshi freedom fighters on various battlefronts across the country.

গোপালগঞ্জ প্রতিনিধি: গোপালগঞ্জ বাসীর জন্য দীর্ঘ প্রতীক্ষার অবসান ঘটিয়ে আগামী ১০ আগস্ট থেকে গোপালগঞ্জ-ঢাকা রুটে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে চালু হচ্ছে "অভিযাত্রী কমিউটার"ট্রেন । রাজধানীর সঙ্গে সরাসরি রেল যোগাযোগ স্থাপনের এই উদ্যোগে উচ্ছ্বসিত গোপালগঞ্জের সাধারণ মানুষ। কম খরচে নিরাপদ ও স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যপূর্ণ যাতায়াতের পাশাপাশি নতুন এই রেলসেবা স্থানীয় ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য ও কৃষিপণ্য পরিবহনেও ইতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলবে বলে আশা করছেন সংশ্লিষ্টরা।

বাংলাদেশ রেলওয়ে সূত্রে জানা গেছে, ১০ আগস্ট দুপুর ২টা ৩০ মিনিটে ঢাকার উদ্দেশে গোপালগঞ্জের পথে প্রথমবারের মতো যাত্রা করবে ‘অভিযাত্রী কমিউটার’। ট্রেনটি সন্ধ্যা ৬টা ৪৫ মিনিটে গোপালগঞ্জে পৌঁছাবে। একই দিন সন্ধ্যা ৭টা ২৫ মিনিটে গোপালগঞ্জ থেকে ঢাকার উদ্দেশে ছেড়ে রাত ১০টা ২৫ মিনিটে রাজধানীতে পৌঁছানোর কথা রয়েছে।

প্রায় ৭০০ আসনবিশিষ্ট এই ট্রেনে যাত্রী পরিবহনের পাশাপাশি ভবিষ্যতে পণ্য পরিবহনের সুযোগ বাড়ানোর সম্ভাবনাও রয়েছে। বিশেষ করে কৃষিপ্রধান গোপালগঞ্জের উৎপাদিত শাকসবজি ও অন্যান্য কৃষিপণ্য দ্রুত ও কম খরচে ঢাকার বাজারে পাঠানোর ক্ষেত্রে রেল যোগাযোগ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে বলে মনে করছেন স্থানীয়রা।

নতুন এই রেলসেবার সবচেয়ে বড় আকর্ষণ ভাড়া। সড়কপথে গোপালগঞ্জ থেকে ঢাকায় যেতে যেখানে সাধারণত ৬০০ থেকে ৮০০ টাকা পর্যন্ত খরচ হয়, সেখানে ট্রেনে মাত্র ১৪৫ টাকায় যাতায়াত করা যাবে। ফলে নিম্ন ও মধ্যবিত্ত শ্রেণির মানুষের জন্য এটি স্বস্তির খবর হয়ে এসেছে। পাশাপাশি সড়কপথের যানজট ও দুর্ঘটনার ঝুঁকি এড়িয়ে তুলনামূলক নিরাপদ ও আরামদায়ক যাতায়াতের সুযোগ তৈরি হবে।

গোপালগঞ্জের রেলযান পরীক্ষক পল্লব কান্তি বিশ্বাস বলেন, ঢাকা-গোপালগঞ্জ রুটে সরাসরি এক জোড়া ট্রেন চালু করা স্থানীয় মানুষের দীর্ঘদিনের প্রত্যাশা ছিল। প্রায় ৭০০ আসনের এই কমিউটার ট্রেনে ১৪৫ টাকায় ঢাকায় যাতায়াত করা যাবে। ভবিষ্যতে অতিরিক্ত লাগেজ বগি যুক্ত করা হলে কৃষকরা তাদের উৎপাদিত পণ্য কম খরচে রাজধানীর বাজারে পাঠানোর সুযোগ পাবেন।

স্থানীয় বাসিন্দা মো. সবুজ (অটো চালক) বলেন, নিম্ন ও মধ্যবিত্ত মানুষের জন্য নতুন এই ট্রেন বড় ধরনের সুবিধা নিয়ে আসবে। বাসের তুলনায় অনেক কম খরচে ঢাকায় যাওয়া সম্ভব হবে। কৃষিপণ্য পরিবহনের ব্যবস্থা করা গেলে গোপালগঞ্জের কৃষকরাও সরাসরি উপকৃত হবেন।

আরেক বাসিন্দা মো. হাসান মোল্লা বলেন, বাসে ঢাকায় যেতে অনেক বেশি অর্থ ব্যয় হয় এবং সড়কপথে নানা ধরনের ঝুঁকিও রয়েছে। ট্রেন চালু হওয়ায় কম খরচে নিরাপদ ও স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যে রাজধানীতে যাতায়াত করা যাবে।

গোপালগঞ্জ রেলস্টেশনের স্টেশন মাস্টার রত্না বৈদ্য জানান, গোপালগঞ্জ থেকে রাজশাহী রুটে ট্রেন চলাচল করলেও ঢাকার সঙ্গে সরাসরি রেলসেবা ছিল না। নতুন ট্রেন চালুর ফলে স্থানীয় মানুষের দীর্ঘদিনের যাতায়াত সমস্যা অনেকটাই কমবে। একই সঙ্গে যাত্রী সংখ্যা বাড়লে সরকারের রাজস্ব আয়ও বাড়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।

তবে নির্ধারিত সময়সূচি নিয়ে কিছুটা ভিন্নমতও রয়েছে। স্টেশনে আসা যাত্রী মো. স্বপন (গোপালগঞ্জ শ্রমিক ইউনিয়নের) বলেন, ট্রেন চালু হওয়া নিঃসন্দেহে আনন্দের খবর। তবে সকালে ট্রেন ঢাকার উদ্দেশে ছাড়লে যেসব মানুষ অফিস বা ব্যবসার কাজে রাজধানীতে যান, তারা একই দিনে কাজ শেষ করে আবার গোপালগঞ্জে ফিরতে পারতেন। তাই ভবিষ্যতে সময়সূচি পুনর্বিবেচনার বিষয়টি কর্তৃপক্ষ বিবেচনা করতে পারে।

স্থানীয়দের প্রত্যাশা, ঢাকা-গোপালগঞ্জ সরাসরি রেল যোগাযোগ শুধু যাতায়াতের খরচ ও সময় কমাবে না, বরং শিক্ষা, চিকিৎসা, চাকরি, ব্যবসা ও কৃষিপণ্য পরিবহনের ক্ষেত্রেও নতুন সুযোগ সৃষ্টি করবে। গোপালগঞ্জের পাশাপাশি আশপাশের বাগেরহাট ও পিরোজপুর জেলার মানুষও এই রেলসেবার সুফল পাবেন বলে মনে করছেন সংশ্লিষ্টরা।

দীর্ঘদিনের অপেক্ষার পর চালু হতে যাওয়া ‘অভিযাত্রী কমিউটার’ তাই শুধু একটি নতুন ট্রেন নয়-গোপালগঞ্জের সঙ্গে রাজধানীর যোগাযোগ ও আঞ্চলিক অর্থনীতিতে নতুন সম্ভাবনার দুয়ার খুলবে, এমনটাই প্রত্যাশা স্থানীয় সকল মানুষের।

ইসরাইলকে ‘পুরো মুসলিম বিশ্বের জন্য হুমকি’ উল্লেখ করে দেশটির বিরুদ্ধে মুসলিম দেশগুলোকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ হওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন পাকিস্তানের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী খাজা আসিফ। একই সঙ্গে ইসরাইল মোকাবিলায় ‘একটি ঐক্যবদ্ধ সামরিক ফ্রন্ট’ গড়ে তোলার প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথাও বলেছেন তিনি।

শনিবার (৮ আগস্ট) পাকিস্তানের একটি সংবাদমাধ্যমকে দেওয়া সাক্ষাৎকারে খাজা আসিফ এসব কথা বলেন।

ইসরাইল প্রসঙ্গে খাজা আসিফ বলেন, ‘সব মুসলিম দেশকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ হতে হবে। এ বিষয়ে আমার কোনো সন্দেহ নেই।’

তিনি বলেন, ‘ইসরাইল ১৯১৭ সালের ব্রিটিশ বালফোর ঘোষণার ফল।’ তার দাবি, এই ঘোষণার ভিত্তিতে ইসরাইল প্রতিষ্ঠিত হওয়ায় দেশটি অঞ্চলটির যেকোনো দেশের জন্য সরাসরি হুমকি হয়ে উঠতে পারে।

বালফোর ঘোষণা ছিল ১৯১৭ সালে ব্রিটিশ সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে ফিলিস্তিনে ইহুদিদের জন্য একটি জাতীয় আবাসভূমি প্রতিষ্ঠার প্রতি সমর্থন। পরবর্তী সময়ে এই ঘোষণাকে ইসরাইল রাষ্ট্র প্রতিষ্ঠার অন্যতম ঐতিহাসিক ভিত্তি হিসেবে দেখা হয়।

ইসরাইলের প্রতি নিজের কঠোর অবস্থান স্পষ্ট করে পাকিস্তানের প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘ইসরাইলের প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেনিয়ামিন নেতানিয়াহু চলতি বছরের নির্বাচনে পরাজিত হলেও তার অবস্থানের কোনো পরিবর্তন হবে না।’

খাজা আসিফ আরও বলেন, ‘জেরুজালেমে যে-ই ক্ষমতায় আসুক, সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী নাফতালি বেনেট কিংবা অন্য কোনো নেতা, পার্থক্য খুবই সামান্য।’

এর আগেও খাজা আসিফ ইসরাইলকে ‘মানবতার জন্য অভিশাপ’ এবং ‘ক্যানসারাস রাষ্ট্র’ হিসেবে অভিহিত করে তীব্র সমালোচনা করেছিলেন।

‎লিটন হোসাইন জিহাদ, ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া : ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কের ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়ার আশুগঞ্জ উপজেলার বাহাদুরপুর বাসস্ট্যান্ড এলাকায় মেঘনায় ড্রেজার দিয়ে নদী থেকে অবৈধভাবে বালু উত্তোলনের প্রতিবাদে মহাসড়ক অবরোধ করেছেন বিক্ষুব্ধ এলাকাবাসী।

‎শনিবার সকাল ১০টা থেকে দুপুর দেড়টা পর্যন্ত  বাহাদুরপুর বাসস্ট্যান্ড এলাকায় মহাসড়ক অবরোধ করে বিক্ষোভ করেন স্থানীয়রা। এতে প্রায় সাড়ে ৩ ঘণ্টা ধরে বন্ধ রয়েছে ঢাকা-সিলেট মহাসড়কে যান চলাচল। অবরোধের কারণে মহাসড়কের আশুগঞ্জ টোলপ্লাজা থেকে চান্দুরা পর্যন্ত প্রায় ১০ কিলোমিটার এলাকায় দীর্ঘ যানজটের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। ভোগান্তিতে পড়েছেন দূরপাল্লার যাত্রীসহ স্থানীয় মানুষ।‎‎স্থানীয়রা জানান, এর আগে গত বৃহস্পতিবার আশুগঞ্জ উপজেলার বাহাদুরপুর, দুর্গাপুর ও তাজপুর গ্রামের উত্তর৷ অবৈধভাবে বালু উত্তোলনের প্রতিবাদে মানববন্ধন করা হয়। মানববন্ধনে আশুগঞ্জ উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা মো. জামাল হোসেন, সহকারী কমিশনার (ভূমি) কাজী রবিউস সারোয়ার এবং আশুগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা একেএম সফিকুল আলম চৌধুরী উপস্থিত হয়ে এই বালুমহাল দমনে তাদের আশ্বাস প্রদান করা হলেও গতকাল রাতে মানববন্ধনে উপস্থিত আন্দোলনকারীদের উপর হামলা ও হুমকি দেন বলে দাবী করেন বিক্ষুদ্ধরা। ঘটনাস্থলে আশুগঞ্জ থানা পুলিশ উপস্থিত হয়ে নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনার চেষ্টা করলে বিক্ষোভকারীরা অভিযুক্তদের গ্রেপ্তার না করা পর্যন্ত আন্দোলন চালিয়ে যাবেন বলে দাবী জানান।

এদিকে দীর্ঘ এই যানজটে ভোগান্তিতে পড়েছেন ঐ সড়ক ব্যবহারকারী যাত্রীসহ স্থানীয়রা। ৩ ঘন্টা ধরে আটকে থাকা মো. দেলোয়ার হোসাইন বলেন, কসবা উপজেলা থেকে ছেড়ে আসা ঢাকাগামী কাজী পরিবহন বাস দিয়ে পরিবার নিয়ে ঢাকার উদ্দেশ্য যাত্রা করি। বিশ্বরোড পার হয়ে সোহাগপুর ব্রিজের পূর্বে মানববন্ধন আরম্ভ হলে প্রায় তিন ঘণ্টা ধরে আটকে আছি। হাজার হাজার মানুষ কষ্ট করছে। কখন মানববন্ধন শেষ হবে কেউই বলতে পারছে না।

সিলেট থেকে ছেড়ে আসা এনা পরিবহনের যাত্রী কাউছার বলেন, আমার ঢাকাতে ৩টার সময় মিটিং কিন্তু এখানেই ১টা বেজে গেছে! কবে জ্যাম শেষ হবে জানিও না। তিনি বলেন পরিবার পরিজন নিয়ে রোগী,  শিশু, মানুষ কষ্ট করছে।

আশুগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা একেএম সফিকুল আলম চৌধুরী বলেন, যারা মানববন্ধন করছে তাদের মূল লোকেরা সামনে আসছেনা। সামনের সারির লোকজনের সাথে কথা বলে সড়কে যানচলাচল স্বাভাবিক করার ব্যবস্থা করছি।

ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার ( প্রশাসন ও অর্থ) ওবায়দুর রহমান বলেন, আমরা যানচলাচল স্বাভাবিক রাখার জন্য সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি।
