The sealed inquiry report submitted by the judicial commission formed to investigate the murder of Mir Raza Ali is scheduled to be opened during a Sindh Cabinet meeting today. Important decisions regarding whether to make the report public are expected to follow the review.

According to available details, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat will brief the cabinet members on the contents of the report. Following the briefing, the cabinet will formulate a future strategy regarding the findings.

Sources indicated that the Sindh government intends to bring all facts surrounding the Mir Raza Ali case to light. However, any decision to release the inquiry report to the public will depend on the official approval of cabinet members.

Significant decisions regarding the contents of the report and subsequent administrative actions are anticipated after the document is opened in today’s session.

A day prior, Mir Hussain, the father of the deceased Mir Raza Ali, demanded that the judicial commission’s report be shared with the family and the public following the cabinet meeting. Speaking to reporters, he alleged that the Karachi Police demonstrated severe negligence in handling his son’s case.

Mir Hussain stated that all of his concerns were validated during the commission’s proceedings. He added that if the report is not provided to them, he will approach the courts for legal relief.

He further maintained that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) should have been constituted to investigate the case, noting that his family will determine their future course of action based on the report’s release.

The judicial commission established to probe Mir Raza Ali’s murder conducted a total of 15 hearings before concluding its work. During the proceedings, statements from 49 individuals were recorded, including two statements taken via video link.

The commission thoroughly examined the police investigation, failures in securing the crime scene, CCTV footage, forensic evidence from mobile phones and an Apple Watch, as well as discrepancies found in the initial post-mortem report.

Additionally, the judicial commission submitted written questionnaires to senior officers, including Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan, DIG Amir Farooq, and DIG East Farooq Lanjar, receiving their formal responses in writing.

The judicial commission completed its formal proceedings on October 7 and handed over its final investigative report to the Sindh government on October 15.
